HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

Let’s talk about how you can prepare for your engagement photos! Engagement sessions are an essential part of your overall wedding photography package. Why? They are a great opportunity for you to get to know your photographers before your wedding day, see how they work and get comfortable in front of their cameras. These are just a few reasons why you should establish a relationship with your wedding photographers before your big day to ensure that it runs flawlessly.

Here are a few things to take into consideration when preparing for your engagement session:

  • Be on time for your session. When it comes to timing, most photographers plan their schedules around the potential sunlight to ensure capturing memories in the best light possible. Typically, the best time for shooting portraits is about 2 hours before sunset or 2 hours after sunrise. Natural light photographers depend 100% on the sun to ensure capturing the subjects in the best light possible. Make sure to arrive on time for your session so that you don’t miss out on the opportunity to get the most out of your photos.

  • Pick a location that resembles who you are as a couple. If you and your fiancé enjoy going to the park on dates, go to the park. If you like a certain area of town where you do things together, go there. It is vital that the location represents you as a couple because you being in a natural environment will make you more composed and comfortable in the pictures.

  • Have FUN! The engagement session should be a blast. The pictures taken should capture the love you and your fiancé share for each other. One day, you will look back through your photos from your dating days and be able to see what made you fall in love with each other.

  • If you are going to have your hair/makeup done for your wedding and plan to have a trial-run, be sure to do it the same day as your engagement session. This will not only allow you to see how your hair/makeup will look in pictures, but it will also allow you to make any changes for your wedding if needed.

And there you have it: how to prepare for your engagement photos! I hope that these tips will be of some assistance to you as you prepare for your engagement session.
