The 5 Things You Need to Do After You Get Engaged

Here are the 5  things you need to do after you get engaged:

1. Share the exiting news

This is the very first thing you’ll want to do! Although your first instinct could be to update Facebook, make sure to let your family and close friends know before you even think about sharing your excitement on social media. They will want to hear it from you and congratulate you personally! So, take a few minutes to call your dear ones. It will make a world of difference to them knowing that you took the time to share this unique moment with them. After you shared the big news with your inner circle, you can then shout it from the rooftops.

2. Get your engagement ring insured

This is probably the least fun thing on the to-do-list, but you will want to make sure that if anything happens, your precious stone is insured. You will feel more comfortable showing off that sparkler, knowing that if anything were to happen, you are covered.

3. Get out your calendar

People will want to know when the big event will take place, so be prepared! Think about the kind of wedding you have envisioned ever since you were a little girl. Would you prefer a shining summer, a glimmering winter, or even a softly-lit fall wedding? What about the honeymoon? Do you have something in mind or would you like the groom to keep it a secret and surprise you? Consider all of your options before nailing down your decision!

4. Start planning… and dreaming

This is the day you’ve dreamed about your whole life… continue dreaming and think about how you can make your day even more special. Need inspiration? Browse the web for ideas and DIY projects. There are so many wedding blogs out there that you will find helpful. Create a Pinterest board and start adding images to it that inspire you.

5. Get to know your vendors

Schedule meetings with the vendors you love and get to know them. Really, get to know them! This is so important! I am sure the professionals you are hiring for your big day are top notch, but make sure you connect with them on a personal level as well.. I can’t stress this enough! It is important that they create the wedding experience you‘ve been dreaming about. For this same reason, we gift each of our couples with a FREE engagement session. This helps us get to know our bride and groom better, and learn their likes and dislikes, so that on their wedding day we can create a photography experience that is totally them.

These are the 5  things you need to do after you get engaged! I’d love to hear you’re your thoughts as well! Who was the first person to find out that you got engaged and what was their reaction?

Happy planning,
