My first time taking Monument Terrace engagement photos for Ryan and Andrea was a success! I literally couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with! They are sweet, kind, and funny. You know… the perfect combination for an amazing engagement session! Here’s a little bit about their story!
How They Met
“This one time at band camp… No, really! We met in 2010 at JMU Summer Band Camp, where we were both on the drumline. We were seniors in high school and kept in touch after camp as we were both applying to colleges and preparing for various music auditions.” Even though they lived a couple of hours away from each other, Ryan was Andrea’s date to her senior prom — she says it was as “just friends”, but Ryan might disagree.
They both ended up at JMU together and became best friends as they navigated their way through all of the adventures that college presented to them. Ryan attempted to get out of the “friend zone” a few times, but it wasn’t until they were both about to graduate that they both finally realized that they didn’t want to do life without each other as partners. When Ryan asked Andrea to be his girlfriend he said: “Are we doing this? If we are, I’m in it for the long haul.” And here they are today!
Isn’t that the best story?! When I asked Andrea what her vision for her wedding was, she replied: We’re most excited about celebrating our love story with our family and friends. When we first started dating, almost everyone we knew said “Finally!” — and the same thing for our engagement. So, we’re really looking forward to starting the next chapter of our lives with our loved ones present. Also, Ryan is a low-key romantic, so he has been more excited than your average groom to plan a fairy tale wedding. We can’t wait for all of the special moments that we’ll get to have together on our wedding day.

Ryan has been growing out a mustache since “quarantine”, so we did the first half of their session with the mustache and the second half without. He looked like a complete different person! Haha. We had such a great time taking their Monument Terrace engagement photos!
