I had so much fun photographing these outdoor engagement photos in Lynchburg, VA for Will and Kira. There are so many great places for sessions around town, but Old City Cemetery has some of the prettiest flowers and garden paths. So when Kira picked this spot for her engagement photos, I was so excited!!
They are the sweetest couple and I can’t wait for their wedding next year!
Kira and Will’s Love Story
“We met online on a Christian dating app. We were long distance at the time (about 25 hours away), but we happened to match when he was traveling. (Otherwise, I wouldn’t have ever seen him as I had my distance settings closer). He reached out that evening, and we chatted before quickly exchanging numbers and setting up a date. We first met in the middle of a Mexican restaurant. We sat there talking until they closed, and they kicked us out. Then, we both left town around the holidays, so we couldn’t see each other for about 3 weeks. But we talked on the phone for hours several times during those weeks, and it felt so natural. When we got back, we went on our second, third, and fourth dates and quickly became official. He eneded up moving to my town about 6 months later and proposing the next month.”
The Proposal
“will and I had looked at rings together multiple times, but we wanted the actual proposal to be a surprise. He succeeded because there were multiple times when I thought he was going to propose, but he didn’t. He told me one day that he wanted to see the top of Sharp Top, so we planned to go one Sunday. He was nervous on the way up, so I thought maybe he was planning to propose, but then I realized it was because he’s not find of heights. But, when we got to the top, he got down on one knee and proposed next to an incredible view. I said YES, and we had a few pictures taken. Then, on the way back down, he told me all about how every time I thought he was going to propose, he had actually planned to. But issues kept coming up with the ring and it arriving on time, so it kept getting delayed. But I loved hearing all the behind the scenes stuff. Once we got back to Abbott Lake, we called family and friends to tell them the news and ate dinner at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. It was a great day!”
Their story is exactly why I love taking outdoor engagement photos in Lynchburg! Kira and Will absolutely rocked their session and I can’t wait for their Smith Mountain Lake wedding in a few months!
