newborn photosI was sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office when Sherry texted me. One thing led to another and she asked if I was going to have newborn pictures taken. Now, I had thought about the possibility of doing a newborn session before and kept putting it off, but in that moment it just clicked, and I booked my session immediately. And I’m so glad I did! You see, two years ago when we had Kenneth, the photographer side of me thought she could take his newborn photos. I even bought him a cute newborn outfit. But guess what?! This momma was WAY too tired the first couple of weeks postpartum to take any photos. Do I regret not investing in a newborn session back then? I totally do. So this time I knew better and hired someone to take Emma’s newborn pictures.

If you’re curious to read more about Emma’s birth story, here’s how it happened! View full post »

I can’t believe we’re only 4 weeks away from our due date!! Baby girl is doing great and mommphotographer pregnancy photosa is getting all the rest she possibly can during this maternity leave. I haven’t taken on any weddings for the two months leading up to my due date so I can focus on my family and babies during this time. It’s been great spending time with my 2 year old without feeling the pressure of work that has to be done, or weddings and sessions that have to be edited and delivered to clients. I’ve been experiencing what it truly feels like to be a stay-at-home mom!

However, I did make an exception to photograph my little nephew who is turning one this month. We met at Glencliff Manor to snap a few quick photos of baby James and his parents. When I uploaded the photos to my computer and saw how amazing the light was in this new spot I discovered, I told the hubs that I really NEEDED to have some maternity photos taken there. So I emailed Mrs. Teresa, the owner of Glencliff Manor and Events, and asked her if I could use the Glencliff Manor grounds for another quick session. She was kind enough to say “yes!”  View full post »

MY $2 TRICK TO CLEANING STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES

baby oil stainless steelIt’s that time of the year when everybody is doing some spring cleaning around the house! Last weekend we had a Mickey Mouse Birthday Party for our little man so I planned on doing a thorough cleaning around the house.

The one thing I was dreading the most was our stainless steel appliances. We’ve spent money before on cleaning solutions/cleaners that didn’t yield any results for us.  I also tried using a simple damp rag, however, our appliances always looked mushy. And with a 2 year old running around the house, you bet there are fingerprints everywhere!  View full post »

KENNETH TURNED 2!

mickey mouse birthday shirtHe’s been loving everything Mickey Mouse lately, so we threw him a Mickey Mouse Birthday Party!

The morning of his birthday party, after he woke up and came downstairs for breakfast, his face lit up at seeing all the Mickey Mouse decorations daddy and mommy had worked on the night before (till 2:30 a.m. might I add). But it didn’t matter, the expression on his face when he saw all of his guests at our house made it all worth it! View full post »

easter egg paintThe brownie baked inside an eggshell is a fun little tradition we started in our family about 2 years ago. This fun alternative to the traditional Easter eggs is always a big hit, especially when you share it with people that have never heard of something like this before.

This year we wanted to surprise our youth group (we teach high school youth at a local church) with some brownies baked inside of eggshells, so between cooking, shooting a wedding, and planning a birthday party for our 2 year old son (Yes, K. turned 2 today… oh, how time flies!) we were able to bake some brownies inside of eggshells, paint them and take them to church this morning. Our youth LOVED them! Their snapchats were filled with brownies baked inside of eggshells! View full post »

We are so grateful to have made it home safely from our missions trip to Romania! We are still working on getting adjusted to the time here and the jet lag is in full swing at our house.

If you follow me on social media, you probably saw lots of pictures from our trip to Romania, Europe during the past two weeks. We arrived safely in the States a couple of days ago and are still trying to adjust back to the time change. For those of you who don’t know, Romania is 7 hours ahead, so getting back on schedule is a little harder than we thought. View full post »

Happy Saturday, friends! I came across this beautiful commercial from the Swiss photo printing company, ifolor last night and it was so touching that I had to share it with you all. This was such a sweet reminder why preserving memories is so important.

As a wedding photographer, I’ve always considered it an honor to document such precious memories in my couples’ lives. Photographing a wedding is a responsibility I don’t take lightly. View full post »
