Downtown is always a beautiful place for engagement sessions, and these downtown Lynchburg Engagement pictures with Desirée and Matt were such a joy to photograph. With its historic buildings, quiet streets, and timeless character, downtown Lynchburg is the perfect spot for photos.
Like many modern love stories, Desirée and Matt met on a dating app. After chatting on and off for a few months, Matt surprised her by asking if she wanted to go on a date later that same evening. She said yes and their first date ended up lasting five hours as they talked the evening away.
It was so much fun capturing their love during their downtown Lynchburg engagement pictures. Our first stop was Monument Terrace, which is well known for its long stone staircase and beautiful views overlooking downtown Lynchburg. It’s one of those iconic locations in the city that always photographs beautifully and adds a timeless feel engagement sessions.
We then walked up to the Lynchburg Museum, which gave the session a beautiful pop of color (scroll down to see those photos). The bright architecture and historic charm around the museum are always so much fun to photograph.
To finish the session, we headed over to the Water Dog restaurant, which is especially meaningful to Desirée and Matt because it’s where they had their first date. As the sun began to set, we took a few photos in front of the restaurant to capture that full circle moment.
It was the perfect way to end their downtown Lynchburg engagement pictures in a place that is already such an important part of their story.
I can’t wait for their wedding at the beautiful Glencliff Manor, as they are planning a spring celebration filled with lots of florals and vibrant colors. More than anything, they are excited to celebrate their love surrounded by their favorite people.

I’m so grateful that Teresa from Glencliff Manor connected us. Desirée mentioned that one things that stood out to her about my work was my focus on helping couples feel comfortable during their sessions. My goal during these downtown Lynchburg engagement pictures was exactly that: creating a relaxed environment so their photos would feel natural and genuine.
