It was so good to be back at my favorite garden wedding venue in Virginia: Glencliff Manor! Rachael and Brian couldn’t have picked a better venue for their beautiful Spring wedding. Adorned with delicate hues of dusty blue, the entire day felt like a fairytale come to life.
The Proposal
Brian had my roommate’s boyfriend ask her if she wanted to go hiking (my favorite activity) right in front of us. After she said yes, he turned to Brian and I and asked if we wanted to join too. I never turn down a good hike, so we were down!
On the way there, the guys mysteriously had to drive separately and skipped out on meeting us for lunch before (sounds so suspicious in hindsight, but they had a good excuse at the time). When I got to the base of the mountain, they were nowhere to be found! But my sister was. That’s when I realized what was happening!
Brian had notes with roses planted all the way up the mountain with photos and letters of our memories together these past three years. It was so so special walking through our journey together, and I was so excited to get to the top and for him to finally propose!! A fun accidental byproduct of the roses and letters was that every hiker knew what was happening and was so sweet and supportive the whole way up!
After the proposal we rushed down the mountain to get ready for our surprise engagement shoot and engagement dinner with some of our now bridesmaids and groomsmen! It was definitely one of, if not THE best, day of my life! – Rachael
I absolutely love that! What an amazing proposal!! Also, I couldn’t think of a better location for their big day than the beautiful garden wedding venue at Glencliff Manor. It was truly a magical day!
Brian and Rachael, thank you for inviting me to photograph your big day! Glencliff Manor is truly the most gorgeous garden wedding venue around!
