On Friday, I had the incredible honor of photographing Jay and Christine’s Rust Manor House wedding in Leesburg, VA. Their day was filled with so much love and emotion, and I was once again reminded of why I do what I do. There’s nothing quite like witnessing the joy of a newly married couple on their wedding day!
If you’ve been following along with my Instagram stories, you probably saw the video I posted on their big day. While we were taking their portraits, they told me that they decided to do a first look because of what I wrote in my Bridal Magazine. Whaaat… is this real life?! So, I knew that I had to record them saying it for all my future brides and grooms to hear! And they were gracious enough to oblige. I’m telling you, I have the best couples in the world!
After we officially book their date, all of my couples receive a Getting to Know You Questionnaire. I love learning about their love story, how they met, the engagement story, etc. Here is what Jay and Christine had to say!
How did you guys meet?
We met through Coffee Meets Bagel out here in Seattle. We actually attended the same school, did the same major, were neighbors, and were part of the same church/Christian fellowship in college – we just never met until Seattle. I (Christine) saw his profile and liked it and we went to a UVA alum happy hour for our first date. We realized we had so much in common and the rest just fell into place after.
How did he propose?
We were walking along our favorite park in Bellevue, Washington when Jay got down on one knee and proposed. It was perfect: the weather and location were both just right and he even had two friends hidden there to film and take pictures of the whole thing.
Why did you decide to use Alina Thomas Photography to photograph your Rust Manor House wedding?
We both just loved your style and the way you captured light in the pictures. Your pictures were by far my favorite wedding pictures of any wedding photographers we looked at (and we looked at a lot), and I just knew I would so love to have you capture our wedding!
Christine and Jay are a dream couple! They even moved their wedding date around a couple of times to make sure that I could be there to photograph their Rust Manor House wedding. I absolutely loved working with them, and I can’t wait for you to see their gorgeous images. Happy scrolling!

“My husband and I are both so happy that we went with Alina for our photographer!!! The wedding pictures were probably the thing I cared about most in planning our wedding day. I spent a lot of time researching and found Alina and loved her work. We went with her after a few email conversations, and I am SO happy that we did! Our wedding and engagement pictures came out beautifully, and Alina did an amazing job of capturing both our wedding day and our engagement shoot! Beyond being an amazing photographer, she is responsive and great to work with: she replied quickly throughout the wedding planning process and took time to thoroughly answer any questions I sent her way. Going with Alina as our wedding photographer was definitely one of the best decisions we made throughout the wedding process!! She does incredible work and is a joy to work with! I highly recommend choosing her as your photographer!” – Christine
