It was my first time photographing a wedding at The Barns of Kanak and I absolutely loved it! Sydney and Matt got married on Saturday, and it was one of the sweetest country weddings I’ve ever had the honor to photograph.
These two have known each other for a long time. They actually grew up in church together. What started as a childhood friendship turned into something special. Matt proposed to Sydney in a cornfield, right at the beginning of harvest season. He got down on one knee in front of the combine, and it was just so them. Simple, sweet, and full of meaning.
From the moment I showed up at the Barns of Kanak, I knew it was going to be a good day. Sydney was glowing, and Matt couldn’t top smiling. They were just so happy to get married. The whole day of full of joy and happy tears.
One of the most special parts of the day was seeing their families come together to celebrate. Everyone was so happy for them, and you could feel that in every single moment. As the sun started to set, we snuck out for sunset photos. The light was soft and golden, every photographer’s dream!
If you’ve ever dreamed of a sweet country wedding, The Barns of Kanak is the perfect venue. It’s cozy and beautiful, and the staff is absolutely amazing! One of my favorite parts about this venue is their “Hitching Post”. It’s a little shed where couples sign a lock with their last name, hang it on the building, and keep the key. It’s such a sweet tradition, and watching Matt and Sydney add their lock was so special. It’s a symbol of forever, something they’ll remember every time they see that key.
Sydney did a first look with dad, and it was the sweetest thing!
Matt and Sydney did a first touch no-peek right before the ceremony.
Congratulations on your The Barns of Kanak wedding, Matt and Sydney! Your wedding was such a gift to witness, and I know your future will be just as full of love.
