Wedding Questionnaire: Why You Need One in Your Photography Business

If you don’t use a wedding questionnaire in your photography business, then you’re missing out. Bold statement, right? Well, let me tell  you why you NEED to add a wedding questionnaire to your workflow if you don’t already do so.

Why You Need a Wedding Questionnaire:

1. It saves a lot of time and avoids constant email communication with the bride to find out all the details you need to know.

2. It helps you better understand the flow of the wedding day so you can create a photography timeline.

3. It gives you the information you need to know in order to prepare for the wedding day and post-wedding workflow (venue address, vendor information, etc.)

By now, you already know that with everything I teach, I like to give you actionable tips that you can implement right away in your business. Because of that, I want to give you my top 3 things to include in a wedding questionnaire. This is information you want to know in advance so you can better serve your clients.

What to Include in Your Wedding Questionnaire:

1. Exact address of the getting ready, ceremony, and reception locations. You do not want to show up to the wrong hotel if there are two hotels with the same name in the area!

2. Their vendor team information. This is important if the wedding gets chosen for publication, BUT it can also be a powerful marketing tool if used intentionally. By tagging the vendors on social media, they will likely share YOUR work, and by them doing so, you will get in front of THEIR audience for free. Also, you have something that every vendor wants: beautiful pictures of their work in action. Don’t hold your images back! Share the online gallery with the vendors and they’ll talk about you and your business all over social media.

3. Their story. By now, you already know that blogging has been a huge part of my business success. If you’re anything like me, you probably think to yourself: I’m not a writer. All the more reason to let your couples write your blog posts for you! Ask about how they met, how the groom proposed, and any exciting plans for the future they may have. When you pair this information with a few sentences about the wedding day, you’ll have a full blog post in no time. Win-win!
