In today’s blog post you are going to learn 5 easy tips for posing the groom on a wedding day. Since this doesn’t always come natural to photographers, I want to teach you my 5 secret poses that you can keep in your back pocket and use whenever you get stuck.
5 EASY GROOM POSES ON A WEDDING DAY:
1. Jacket over the shoulder
This pose doubles as a “getting ready” image because 90% of the time I like to take the groom outside for the getting ready photos. Most wedding venues don’t have the best rooms for the groom to get ready in. They are usually tiny and dark. So, don’t be afraid to ask the groom to step outside for a few pictures!
2. Putting the jacket on
The next thing I ask the groom to do is to put on his jacket, and I make sure to document the process.
3. The lapel shot
From pose #2, I ask the groom to hold onto his lapel for a few shots, after which I ask him to button his jacket.
4. Detail shots
Pose #3 offers a great opportunity to take detail shots. There’s nothing like creating variations of the same pose simply by playing with composition. Zooming in on this pose will allow you to capture some detail shots that would be perfect to include in your blog posts.
5. The bouquet shot
This pose is great to use while the groom is waiting for the bride to arrive at their first look location. Again, you can take a full body shot, a waist up shot, and even zoom in for a detail shot.
