designer wedding dresses virginiaAshley Grace is one of the most exquisite bridal shops in the Lynchburg area. Their designer
wedding gowns are absolutely amazing, it makes me want to try them all on!! They are literally some of the most beautiful wedding dresses I have ever seen… and, as a Virginia wedding photographer, I have seen a lot of wedding dresses so far.

What I love the most about Ashley Grace Bridal is the that they work exclusively with some of the most amazing wedding dress designers in the industry. They are amongst the very few wedding dress stores in Central Virginia that feature dresses from well known designers, such as: Justin Alexander, Lillian West, Stella York, Maggie Sottero, and Rebecca Ingram. One of the questions I get asked the most is what kind of photography gear I use. I remember when I was first starting out, I looked and asked for guidance from otherphotography camera gear photographer friends. As I got more established in my photography business, I was able to figure out the kind of camera and lenses I needed for my style. Below is a list of some of my most trusted camera equipment!

Nikon D810– If you are shooting weddings, this camera is a beast in low light situations. The only negative is the size of the files. They are huge! However, this is my all-time favorite camera and I would recommend it to anyone looking to invest in a higher grade professional camera. It has a dual card slot which requires a SD + CF card. AHHHH!! I am SOOO excited to share with you a huge project I’ve been working on behind the scenes lately, my very first e-book. This has been on my to-do list for quite some time now, but with two little ones around the house, I never actually got around to it… until today!! Today I finished my first e-book (“20 Tips for Creating the Perfect Wedding Album”). And the best part?! It’s FREE!!

If you have come across my infographic “15 Tips On How To Choose The Perfect Pictures For Your Wedding Album” on Pinterest (pictured below), you are going to LOVE this e-book!! What makes the e-book even better is that I have created 5 additional spreads that your couples can choose to include in their wedding album. Once you educate your couples on how to choose the perfect images for their wedding album, the designing process should take less than 10 minutes total.  View full post »

couple in the woods laughing at camera I shot Shelby and Josh’s engagement photos at Glencliff Manor a few weeks ago. Between our move to NoVa, selling our home in Lynchburg and buying a house in Northern Virginia, I did not get a chance to post their engagement session until now.

I absolutely loved hanging out with Shelby and Josh! They are the sweetest couple and they braved the cool temperatures like champs. Even though it was cold that day, we had one of the most amazing sunsets and gorgeous golden light! This made my photographer heart really, really happy :) View full post »

weddings at sorella farmsWhere do I even start?! Sorella Farms is one of my absolute favorite barn wedding venues around and I love, love, LOVE working with the staff there. I always refer to them as my Sorella family because I’ve grown to love them so much that they have become more than just industry peers to us. This past year I had the privilege of photographing five amazing weddings at Sorella Farms and all of them have been picked up for publication. I couldn’t be more thrilled!!

What I love the most about last wedding season’s weddings at Sorella is that none of them are alike. They are all so different and unique, yet beautiful in their own way. I have compiled a slideshow of some of my favorite photos I took this season and I cannot wait for you to see it. View full post »

glencliff manor pricingThis year I had the honor of photographing not one, not two, but three weddings at the beautiful Glencliff Manor in Rustburg, Virginia! And they ALL got to be published on one of the leading blogs in the industry!

I get so excited every time my couples are featured on a blog or in print. I’ll have to admit that this year I have been a little behind with submitting weddings for publication. I was also pregnant for most of this year, so time just got away from me and wedding season was so full and busy that I never got around to doing it.

However, a few weeks ago I got an email from one of the leading wedding blogs asking to feature not one, not two, not three… but ELEVEN of the weddings on my blog. Needless to say, I was stoked when Borrowed and Blue reached out to me!! Today I am going to share the first three weddings that got featured on Borrowed and Blue: View full post »

2016 has been a great year for us as we have had an amazing wedding season and got to work with even more amazing couples. Thank you, thank you for sharing your wedding day with me and allowing me to document your special day on my camera. It’s been truly a privilege!!

It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by! Here we are, at the end of December, the last month of the year. I am in awe as I am typing this post because this year has truly flown by in the blink of an eye.

At the end of every year, I like to really take the time to look at what has worked and what hasn’t worked for my business in the past year. I also like to set goals for the new year, just to keep me accountable and have a constant reminder of what I am trying to accomplish in the new year. I’ve been looking forward to sharing this blog post the whole year! The year in review post is one of my favorite things to share on the blog. It’s so much fun to look back at all the behind-the-scene moments that happened throughout the wedding season. Last year’s post was a big hit, so if you’re dying to see why, you can take a look here.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my 2016 couples for trusting me with capturing their special day! I am truly honored!! 2016 was an amazing year and I got to work with some pretty amazing brides and grooms, if I may say so myself! To all my sweet #ATPCouples, YOU are the reason why I love doing what I do. Here’s to another great wedding season ahead! Now, let’s take a look at how this year unfolded. Fair warning, some of these behind-the-scene shots are pretty epic! View full post »

Happy Christmas Day, friends!

This year we are celebrating Christmas as a family of FOUR! How crazy is that?! Last Christmas we were announcing that we were pregnant with sweet baby Emma and now she is here. She was born in August and is now 4 months old. She is such a blessing and brings so much joy to our family this Christmas!

What does a typical Christmas Day at the Thomas House consist of?

We usually do our Christmas in the morning. Timmy reads the Christmas story, and then we open our gifts. Typically, after having our Christmas time at home, we head over to the grandparents house, either late morning or early afternoon, and spend the rest of the day with Timmy’s parents, siblings, and their families. It is always such a fun time! View full post »
