2016 has been a great year for us as we have had an amazing wedding season and got to work with even more amazing couples. Thank you, thank you for sharing your wedding day with me and allowing me to document your special day on my camera. It’s been truly a privilege!!

It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by! Here we are, at the end of December, the last month of the year. I am in awe as I am typing this post because this year has truly flown by in the blink of an eye.

At the end of every year, I like to really take the time to look at what has worked and what hasn’t worked for my business in the past year. I also like to set goals for the new year, just to keep me accountable and have a constant reminder of what I am trying to accomplish in the new year. I’ve been looking forward to sharing this blog post the whole year! The year in review post is one of my favorite things to share on the blog. It’s so much fun to look back at all the behind-the-scene moments that happened throughout the wedding season. Last year’s post was a big hit, so if you’re dying to see why, you can take a look here.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my 2016 couples for trusting me with capturing their special day! I am truly honored!! 2016 was an amazing year and I got to work with some pretty amazing brides and grooms, if I may say so myself! To all my sweet #ATPCouples, YOU are the reason why I love doing what I do. Here’s to another great wedding season ahead! Now, let’s take a look at how this year unfolded. Fair warning, some of these behind-the-scene shots are pretty epic! View full post »

Happy Christmas Day, friends!

This year we are celebrating Christmas as a family of FOUR! How crazy is that?! Last Christmas we were announcing that we were pregnant with sweet baby Emma and now she is here. She was born in August and is now 4 months old. She is such a blessing and brings so much joy to our family this Christmas!

What does a typical Christmas Day at the Thomas House consist of?

We usually do our Christmas in the morning. Timmy reads the Christmas story, and then we open our gifts. Typically, after having our Christmas time at home, we head over to the grandparents house, either late morning or early afternoon, and spend the rest of the day with Timmy’s parents, siblings, and their families. It is always such a fun time! View full post »

christmas gift ideas for photographersHappy (almost) Christmas Day! I can’t believe I am actually typing these words. It feels like it was yesterday that we celebrated Christmas 2015. This year flew by in the blink of an eye!! Although Christmas is NOT about gifts, picking the perfect gift to go under the tree for your spouse or children is always a fun activity.

Unlike myself, my husband always, always surprises me with the BEST gifts. Majority of them are photography related because… well, as a photographer, there’s always something on your wish list. I love capturing the milestones in my clients’ lives, as well as my own. With two little ones around the house I know that I will cherish the little things I document on my camera every day. To be completely honest, I think I make Timmy’s job pretty easy since I talk about photography all.the.time!! View full post »

maternity photos christmas tree farmThis was my first time visiting the Green Needle Christmas Tree Farm in Coleman Falls, Virginia and I am in love! I grew up with real Christmas Trees for years, but slowly transitioned to the convenience of the pre-lit, artificial ones. After taking Danielle’s maternity photos at the Green Needles Christmas Tree Farm, I am seriously considering buying a real tree next Christmas.

Timmy and I loved spending time with Danielle and Brian and getting to document this milestone in their life. Danielle and I worked closely this wedding season at Sorella Farms. I have had the privilege to photograph six weddings at Sorella Farms this year alone, and Danielle did an outstanding job coordinating all of them! View full post »

Steph - These are stunning! Their clothing choices with the setting makes for really great photos. You really captured their happiness, I love it!ReplyCancel

family photos virginiaI had no idea how beautiful Moneta was until I started photographing the Rogers family two years ago! We’ve known them for years and they are very dear to our hearts. Stephanie, Derek, Catherine and Dustin have been on missions trips with us to Romania a number of times, and Dustin actually officiated our wedding ceremony almost 5 years ago. It’s crazy how fast time flies!!
I was so excited to  get a text from Stephanie asking if I was available to do their family pictures again this year! All the siblings (and their families) gather together once a year at their parents’ house in Moneta, Virginia. Let me just tell you how beautiful Moneta is during fall season!! The day of their session was filled with the most perfect sunset and we had the most gorgeous lighting during the golden hour.  View full post »

old city cemetery lynchburg vaBeing that I am primarily a wedding photographer, I don’t get to photograph many family sessions throughout the year. As a mom of two, I adore family sessions and it’s always such an honor to be invited to celebrate these milestones in my clients’ lives. Maternity sessions are very special to me, as I spent the majority of this year being pregnant. Our little Emma came into the world just a few short months ago and I already miss those little kicks inside my baby bump.

When Karissa messaged me about doing her maternity photos, I was literally so excited because I had just been through the same experience. Her and Ryan live in Amherst and for their maternity session we met up in Lynchburg. We found the perfect location for her fall maternity pictures and the light was simply gorgeous!! I couldn’t be happier for this amazing couple who are getting ready to welcome their  sweet baby Hayden into their family in the next couple of months.

fall engagement session vaSorella Farms is stunning all year around and I loved photographing a lot of weddings there this year. I have to say though, that during fall, it is extra beautiful. During this time of the year, weddings usually slow down and engagement sessions are in high demand. I absolutely adore the fall season, and when Devin emailed me to let me know that she wanted to have her engagement photos taken this fall, I was extremely happy. Not to mention that she chose Sorella Farms as her backdrop for her session. Devin and Matt are getting married at Sorella Farms next year and I am beyond excited to work alongside Sorella’s wedding crew again.  View full post »

Becca and Matt’s wedding at Hilton Garden Inn in Lynchburg, Virginia was like no other! It’s no secret that I help each of my brides build a perfect timeline forweddings at heritage baptist church in forest
their wedding day to make sure they have plenty of time for all the pictures they desire. And first-looks are always encouraged in order to get the most out of the photography coverage. Becca and Matt not only did a first look, their whole wedding day was so relaxed, and ran so smoothly, that we took the family photos that were scheduled for later in the day, before the ceremony. Aaand the bride had plenty of time left to freshen up before the ceremony. That, friends, is a wedding well planned!!

We started the day at Heritage Baptist Church in Forest, Virginia which has the cutest little chapel for weddings. As I was gathering all the details to photograph, my jaw dropped when I saw Becca’s wedding shoes!! I love me a good pair of sparkling shoes!  View full post »

The girls at A Little Party Events did a fantastic job coordinating the day and making sure that everything went smoothly. As always, Bloom by Doyle’s delivered the most gorgeous florals possible! Just wait until you see those gorgeous bouquets!! View full post »
