Can you attract new clients with blogging? Absolutely you can! In fact, my whole business was built on blogging.
Let’s back it up a little bit.
When I first started my business, I learned that consistency is key. Blogging consistently is the number one thing that you can do to grow your photography business. Posting consistently is one of the hardest things I did, but it shortly became the #1 lead generator in my business.
So, if you don’t have a blog yet, you NEED one. If you do, but hardly ever blog, you need to make it a priority. I know blogging is a lot of work, but believe me, it’s SO worth it!
Here are just a few ways that blogging can help you grow your business:
1. It allows you to become relatable.
Don’t be afraid to share personal blogs about places you like to travel to, local boutiques you shop at, your favorite things to read, watch, learn, etc. In fact, most of my brides comment on things about myself or my family they have read about on my blog and how they could relate to them. Here’s one of my bride’s answers to one of the questions in my “Getting to Know You” questionnaire”:
“I chose you and your team because I really like your vibe and that most of your posts are family oriented. Family is very important to Eddie and me.”
2. It allows potential clients to see how YOU could capture their wedding day.
While your website is filled with some of your favorite pictures from different weddings that you’ve photographed, a blog post allows potential clients to see a full wedding day (or session) documented by you. They don’t just see split moments, they see the full experience. This allows them to envision what their wedding photos could look like if they booked you as their photographer.
3. It positions you as an expert in your field.
I always say that on a wedding day I don’t shoot for 1, but for 3 people: the couple, the vendors, and myself (the blog and behind-the-scene images for social media). By blogging, you basically create shareable content. Your clients, as well as other vendors, will share your blog posts. That’s basically free marketing!
And that, my friend, is how you attract new clients with blogging! If you found today’s post helpful, be on the lookout for next week’s blog all about the top 3 tips for a successful blog post.
