How to Become a Preferred Wedding Vendor

If you’ve been wondering how to get your name on a preferred wedding vendor list, today’s blog post is a must-read. But first, I have a question for you!

How do you market your business to potential clients?

As a photographer, you have such an incredible advantage in this social media driven era! EVERYBODY wants beautiful pictures to share on their website and social media platforms. However, not everybody has the means to create stunning, perfectly lit images.

That’s where YOU come in!

This is your chance to reach those vendors that your couples come in contact with before they are even looking for a photographer. By hearing about you over and over again, they’ll be inclined to reach out to you and book your services.

Let me ask you a question:

When was the last time you emailed a wedding vendor with a beautiful online gallery that featured their beautiful work and let them use the images for free?

I get it! You’re busy. So are all the other photographers. If you decide to make following up with vendors after a wedding a priority, you’ll gain a huge advantage. Make this little step a part of your workflow and you’ll be surprised at what a difference it will make in your business.

Because I like to offer actionable tips that you can implement right away, here are a few ways that you can strengthen your relationship with other wedding vendors and reach those clients before they are even looking for a photographer!

1. Send high-resolution images (with no watermark) to vendors after the wedding and allow them to use them on social media. Kindly ask to be credited though.

2. Gift wedding albums/books to venues you want to shoot at again. Venues love showing their clients the many possibilities their reception space can provide.

3. Feature wedding vendors on your blog. They will most likely share the interview on their social media and your site will also appear in the search results when potential clients are searching for those wedding vendors on Google.

I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve become a preferred wedding vendor for some of the most gorgeous venues because of the steps I shared with you above. And you know what the best part is? I never once asked to be added to their list. I genuinely started sharing my work with venues, florists, planners etc. and they started referring me to their couples. Believe me, using your work to help other industry peers is one of the fastest ways to become a preferred wedding vendor.
