These military engagement photos are some of my favorites! I met Jill and RJ a couple of years ago at a family wedding and secretly hoped that I would get to photograph their wedding one day. You can imagine my excitement when Jill emailed me to let me know she was engaged. Their big day is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I had to drive through a storm to get to their engagement session. Not gonna lie, I was pretty nervous that the rain would ruin our plans, but instead the sky was bright and clear when I got to Purcellville, VA. Needless to say, their military engagement photos were a success!
Jill & RJ’s Story:
“RJ and I had seen each other at the gym at Virginia Tech before but never spoken. One day, I saw him leaving when I went in, and about 10 minutes later had a Facebook friend request from him. I had no idea how he found out who I was. Turns out he had some friends that worked at the gym, and when you swipe your ID for entrance, your name and picture pop up on the screen, so that’s how he learned. The rest was history.
I knew as soon as we met there was something special about him, and I fell incredibly hard. RJ and I have been together for 4 years, 2 of which he has been in the Army. After graduation from Virginia Tech, he enlisted in the Army and I continued at school. This January, before he returned to his base following Christmas leave, we decided to have a date night and go to the MGM at National Harbor. He was so nervous that I knew what was going on.
We got 30 minutes down the road and he realizes he forgot his jacket, and we were fairly dressed up. So we turn around in rush hour traffic, go get his jacket, and the winter sunset proposal he envisioned did not happen since we got to the harbor after dark. He took me on the ferris wheel, waited til we got to the top, and got down on one knee. RJ is my whole world and the man of my dreams.”
Learning about my couple’s love story and proposal is one of my favorite things! Jill and RJ absolutely nailed their military engagement photos, and I can’t wait for their wedding next month!
