Leah and Matthias are so much fun together and it was truly an honor to capture their Molon Lave Vineyards wedding in Warrenton, Va. The whole day was a mix of excitement, fun, and happiness! We loved getting to know them and were honored to photograph their beautiful Greek wedding!
Their love story
“Matthias and I met while doing a community theatre show together (Fiddler on the Roof). We instantly became friends and have been together for about five years now. Knowing that my family is extremely important to me, He proposed on my parents’ anniversary and surprised me with an engagement party right after the proposal.”
One thing I found out on their wedding day was that Leah’s dad actually made her engagement ring! He comes from a long line of goldsmiths in their family. Isn’t that absolutely incredible?! What a beautiful heirloom to have!
Their Greek Wedding
Leah comes from a Greek family, and incorporated a lot of the Greek traditions into her wedding. Firstly, the ceremony took place at St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Falls Church. It was so beautiful and touching! Also, upon being introduced at the reception, the couple did a “money dance”. The “Money Dance” is traditional in many regions of Greece. In some regions, money is pinned directly to the bride’s gown throughout the evening, or thrown on the floor as they dance. Lastly, my favorite was the “breaking of the plates”. Often, plates are thrown on the floor and broken to symbolize good luck and happiness. I’ve never seen that being done at a wedding before, and it was pretty amazing to witness!
