Top 5 Winter Wedding Trends We Love

winter wedding trendsAs unpopular as they may be, winter weddings are nothing less than magical. In the early winter months especially, the air just feels like romance, and the snow falls like people in love.

To set winter weddings apart from the other seasons, there are a number of trends that I’ve been seeing that make me want to recommend everyone get married in the winter. After witnessing the following trends, our heads at Ever After are spinning with ideas!

Cool Color Combos

First and foremost are the trending colors that are dripping with depth and luxury. I love the following combinations:

Navy & Marsala — This combination is definitely best suited for the couples who enjoy a touch of luxury and a classic, film noir romance aesthetic.

Black & Olive — A black and olive color scheme is the perfect palette for bringing out and highlighting the more earthy elements of the season.

Plum & Grey — The plum and grey color trend is on the more playful side for those who are striving for a whimsical winter mood.

The easiest way to incorporate whatever color scheme you choose is through your main decor elements, the dresses you choose for the bridesmaids, and the tuxedos or suits you choose for the groomsmen.

Two Tuxedos

Speaking of suits and tuxedos, brides shouldn’t be the only ones permitted to swap into something more swanky for the reception! This winter, grooms have been changing up their bow tie and / or slipping into a more casual jacket in playful, seasonal fabrics like velvet.

In terms of getting the best bang for your buck, these suits and tuxedos offered by online rental company The Black Tux have been placed at the top of “Best of” lists this year by The Knot, Southern Weddings, and InStyle, and they’ve received rave reviews from real customers.

Printed Dresses & Leather Jackets

What about the gals? Brides are giving their look an edge (with the perk of added warmth) with the addition of sleek, white leather jackets. And instead of the typical monochromatic line of ladies, there’s been a surging trend of bridesmaid dresses with big beautiful prints and other visually-arresting elements. We adore these floral bridesmaid dresses from BHLDN.

Seasonal Desserts

Throw away the cupcakes and say hello to the hot chocolate bar! Set out a beautiful collection of sip-worthy mugs and a station donned with marshmallows, candy canes, cinnamon sticks for stirring, and shots of Bailey’s or your winter-booze-of-choice for guests to enjoy.

Show-Stopping Decor

Last but not least, the most amazing decor trend this winter isn’t your typical cozy fabric accents, but frozen flower arrangements, basically taking ice sculptures to the next, most beautiful level. You can either make it part of the grand reception entrance for guests to gawk at as they walk in, or make them the centerpieces for your tables for guests to enjoy and marvel at all evening.
