Wedding invitation flat lays are some of the most difficult things to style on a wedding day, don’t you agree?! That’s why this month I decided to talk about how to style wedding invitations here on the blog. If you missed last week’s blog post, make sure to check it out. It goes over how to create organic flat lays when all you have to work with is one invite and one envelope.
Today, I want to focus on how to be creative when the invitation suite has some additional components like an RSVP card and envelope. So, how do we style 4 piece paper goods? We first have to remember the 3 rules of composition:
- diagonal lines
- fibonacci spiral
- the “S” curve
If you need a refresher, you can click here to read the 3 Composition Rules for More Dynamic Images blog post.
1. With the Flap Open
In the first image below I used the diagonal line rule. In the second image I used the fibonacci spiral rule. And in the third image I used the “S” curve rule.
Bonus! Here are some more ideas if you have a lot of florals on your hands.
2. With the Flap Closed
In the first image below I used the diagonal line rule. In the second image I used the fibonacci spiral rule. And in the third image I used the “S” curve rule.
Did you enjoy these wedding invitation flat lays? Make sure to save this blog post and refer back to it when you need some ideas in a pinch. I only used flowers, a ring box, and some ribbon to style these because I wanted to create something that is easy to replicate on real wedding days when you don’t have all the styling items handy like you would at a workshop. There are a lot more ways that you can style a 4 piece invitation suite, but I hope these easy flat lay ideas are easy to remember next time you photograph a wedding!
