On Saturday, I photographed a beautiful tent wedding near Lynchburg, VA. It had the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen and the sweetest people. And even though it rained almost the entire day, I don’t think it could have been any more beautiful!
Clare and Ryan live all the way in Alaska, but they chose to celebrate their wedding surrounded by family and friends at a beautiful private home in Long Island, VA. And I have to tell you, their story is SO sweet!
A Love Story that Started in January
Would you believe these two only met in January?! Ryan’s brother and sister-in-law were the ones who introduced them, and just a few months later, here we were celebrating their wedding!
From the moment I met Clare and Ryan, I could tell just how sweet they were together. They were both so kind, and it was such a joy getting to photograph this special day for them.
A Rainy Tent Wedding near Lynchburg, VA
Now, let’s talk about the weather! If there’s one thing you can’t control on your wedding day, it’s the rain. And boy, did it rain! It rained while everyone was getting ready. It rained while we were taking pictures. And it continued raining throughout most of the day, but you would never know judging by the pictures. The house Clare got ready in had the most beautiful white porch, which made for the dreamiest wedding portraits.
But the most amazing part is that the rain stopped JUST in time for the outdoor ceremony!! I’m not kidding! After hours of rain, the skies gave us a little break, and Clare and Ryan were able to exchange vows outside, just as they had planned. And shortly after the ceremony? It started raining again! Talk about perfect timing…
Thankfully, their beautiful reception tent provided the perfect place for everyone to gather and celebrate, no matter what the weather was doing outside.
The Most Beautiful Wedding Details
Can we also take a moment to talk about Clare’s flowers?! I seriously couldn’t get over them! Creative Occasions Events did an incredible job with the floral arrangements. From Clare’s stunning bridal bouquet to all the beautiful details throughout the wedding, everything was absolutely gorgeous. And her shoes?! SO pretty!
I could have spent the entire day photographing all those little details.
One of my favorite parts of Clare and Ryan’s tent wedding was something you don’t see at every reception. They had a hymn sing! Everyone gathered together and sang hymns, and it was such a beautiful moment.
