Wedding Flowers in Leesburg, Virginia: JR Flowers

If you’re a bride looking for some gorgeous wedding flowers in Leesburg, Virginia, you need to chat with my friend Shirley. She is the floral designer behind JR Flowers and she is fantastic! Her work is beyond amazing!

Shirley and I recently worked on a branding shoot together, and we had SO much fun! I could just sit and chat with her all day long. Which is why I invited her to be a guest on my blog this week. We’re talking all about wedding flowers in Leesburg, Va, as well as some other fun things. Enjoy!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your passion for flowers.

I have been a flower lover my entire life. I think the passion came from watching my mom and grandmother in their gardens. However, I never thought that I would have a floral design business. I went to college and medical school and became a pediatrician. I would make floral arrangements for baby showers and bridal showers for friends and family just for fun. Life was very busy with work, my husband, and 2 sons. Finally, as my children grew older, I had more free time to work with flowers and eventually decided to start the business. I named it after my sons, Justin and Ryan. We focus on weddings and events.

What is the most common question brides ask about wedding flowers?

Naturally, brides are concerned about the cost of flowers. Wedding flowers are expensive and that can be quite a shock to people. Once they see what goes into the process of getting the flowers ready for the wedding, they usually understand.

What has been the largest or most sophisticated flower arrangement you have ever created?

We love designing ceremony arches. A wedding arch filled with flowers and greenery is such a pleasure to create.

How far in advance should couples inquire with you about their wedding flowers?

We suggest at least 6 months, but for popular wedding months like April, May, September, and October we recommend 9-12 months.

What have been the most popular wedding flowers in the recent years?

Peonies for spring, and dahlias for summer and fall. They are both stunning flowers and I get so much pleasure out of designing with them.

What do you find most fulfilling about being a florist?

It’s very simple for me. The pleasure comes in seeing the wedding design come together and seeing the happy couple. Flowers are an integral part of my life, and I am always so honored to be chosen by a couple to play such an important role in their wedding.
