The Year In Review post is definitely one of my favorite blog posts to share each year! It is so much fun to put together and I always get a good laugh out of it. Some of the behind-the-scene photos my second shooters take of me throughout the wedding season are hysterical! But I will let you see for yourself :)
2017 has been the best year yet! This year I had the privilege of photographing some of the most amazing couples and their phenomenal weddings. I started and ended my wedding season with a Glencliff Manor wedding, which I thought was really neat. It doesn’t happen very often to open and close a wedding season at the same wedding venue!
Also, earlier this year my family and I moved to Northern Virginia. With that said, I had a three and a half hour commute to photograph weddings almost every weekend. It is very common for photographers to book weddings up to a year (sometimes a year and a half) in advance. The funny thing is that last year I decided not to travel for work anymore because I wanted to spend more time with my family. Emma was born in August of last year and I knew that I wanted to be more present at home so I didn’t take on any weddings that required traveling. The funny thing is that I received quite a few inquiries for Northern Virginia weddings. Can you guess where we moved to at the beginning of this year? That’s right: Northern Virginia.
Since I had to travel a lot for my weddings this year, I quickly realized that I needed something to make the drive more enjoyable. Yes, listening to music was fun, but I needed something more engaging. Then I came across Amy Porterfield’s podcast (Online Marketing Made Easy) and I was hooked. I started wishing the drives took longer so I could listen to just one more episode. It’s that good!
Lastly, I have to thank all my #ATPcouples for trusting me to document their wedding days! I am truly blessed to have met each and every one of you and I wish you all a marriage even more beautiful than your wedding!
Without further adieu, here’s my year in review!
When you take pictures at a bridal salon, you jump in front of the mirror and snap a picture of yourself as well. That’s totally normal, right?!
When my clients display photos from our sessions together at their wedding, it’s mandatory that I take a picture of with their prints and canvases.. or both :)
Sometimes you just play photo tag with your second shooter…
…or, the wedding guests haha
After five years of shooting weddings, I became a professional dress fluffer…
…and I can also strike a pretty good ballet pose if you’d so like haha.
If you’re lucky, I might even show you how to do a princess wave…
…no, seriously, I really will.
ometimes the groomsmen and I have deep discussions about shoes. It’s totally normal, men like fashion too!
When we’re done talking about shoes, we slay the groom’s portraits!
Some groomsmen like me so much, they try to fist bump me haha
Have you ever wondered how some photographers take certain photos? Here are some behind-the-scenes shenanigans for ya.
Oh, the things you have to do in order to get the bridal party’s attention :D
The ring bearers are clearly excited about this photo!
I can hardly believe 2017 is coming to an end soon, but I am so excited about what next year has in store! If you got a good laugh out of this post (at my expense) and want to see more, check out my Year In Review 2016 and Year In Review 2015 posts as well.
