Alina Thomas Photography: Northern Virginia Wedding Photographer » Virginia Wedding Photographer

lynchburg-wedding-photographer-trivium1The Trivium is an exquisite wedding venue located in Forest, Virginia where Alyssa and Daniel chose to celebrate their dream wedding. From the beautiful outdoor ceremony to the extravagant ball room reception, their big day was filled with laughter and happiness. It was in 2003 that Alyssa moved to Lynchburg, Virginia from North Carolina and met Daniel. Although they attended the same school, worked in the same veterinary office, and even went to the prom with mutual friends as dates, they did not begin dating until these same friends kept telling them how “cute” they would be together. Choosing whether or not to do a first-look session is not always the easiest thing for a bride and groom to decide. It seems that many couples disagree on this topic so we think it should be addressed before your wedding day. The reason for many of the disagreements is simply the culture in which the bride and groom were raised. Some people prefer the traditional “first-look” being when the bride walks down the aisle, whereas the new, modern “first-look” takes place before the ceremony. Neither one of these options is wrong, but we are going to explain why we prefer the new, modern “first-look” from a photographer’s perspective. View full post »

Charlotte - I always thought I would prefer the traditional “walking down the aisle” first look, but I can see how having some quiet, tender moments before the ceremony would make for better pictures. Awww, these are so incredibly beautiful.

Independence Day is one of the most patriotic holidays celebrated in the United States. The word independence sounds like a typical word, but when evaluated, is very significant. Independence means freedom, and we all know that nothing is ever really free. We need to be grateful today for our independence and those who fight everyday for it. View full post »

Lindsey - Is there any advantage to Pixieset over PASS? They seem too similar…ReplyCancel

    • June 26, 2014 - 4:49 pm

Alina Thomas - I just switched from Pass to Pixieset because Pixieset offers some great features that Pass does not have. For example, with Pass you have to pay in order for your clients to be able to download all their images at once. Otherwise, they would have to download them one by one which takes a long time. What I really love, is the option to create “Favorites” which makes the album ordering process so much easier. I can simply download the pictures that my clients “Favorited” and start creating their album right away, instead of having them come to my office and go through their wedding pictures with them to select the ones they like. To me, it was worth the change!ReplyCancel

In today’s society, when everything is so digital, it makes sense to only purchase your digital images from you photography session, right? Well, not quite. I heard so many times about people whose computers had crashed and ALL their digital family photos were stored on the internal hard drive. What a loss! All those memories that were meant to last a lifetime are suddenly… gone! While most clients nowadays prefer to have the digital negatives and printing rights to all their images, the chances are that their USB will end up sitting in a drawer somewhere collecting dust and their digital images won’t be looked at anytime soon. lynchburg-wedding-photographer-alina-thomas001This photo session took place at the beautiful wedding venue Sorella Farms, in Evington Virginia, where Emily and Ian will be getting married later this year. We had a magnificent time capturing their engagement pictures. Emily and Ian were both laid back and easy to work with. We are very excited to see this couple tying the knot and couldn’t have hoped for the shoot to be any better. Between Ian’s patriotism and Emily’s spontaneous personality, this couple has everything they need to have a happily ever after life together. View full post »
